Faking Our Own Faking

I was so excited by all the high-end products. ‘So great, so great, so great…’ I murmured rapturously to myself. I was in Seventh Heaven; I was on Cloud 9! It’s just like a dream come true, says I to myself – so many high value products! So great, so great. I could hardly contain myself.

Excited by all the things, excited by all the good things. Happy as Larry – dashing here and dashing there, overwhelmed by all the choices, unable to take it all in. Not knowing which way to turn. My mind trying to think of one thousand things at once. What product to purchase first.

High quality, you see. Nothing but the best. Nothing but the very highest quality. I was entertaining myself with my own bullshit thinking, you see. Only it was all getting very stale, of course. Appallingly stale. Hideously stale. It always does, doesn’t it? We’re all in the same boat there, after all. We’re all drowning in sewers of our own making. Underground caverns of septic effluence. Try and tell me differently – I dare you. Look me in the eye and tell me that it isn’t true. Look me in the eye and tell me you’re not addicted to your own pathetic bullshit…

Excited by the bullshit, excited by the tremendous, wonderful bullshit. It’s flowing well today, so it is. Hey ho, hey ho – it’s off to bullshit land we go! And I know we’re all going to be very happy there. In for a penny, in for a pound – right? I’m no different to the next eejit in the street after all, so why point the finger at me? Peas in a pod so we are. Identikit gobshytes standing in a row.

They always try to single you out, though – that’s their method, hypocrites that they are. Dirty lousy hypocrites. Every single last one of them. You know the story as well as I do however. You know the story as well as I do so why am I wasting your time going on about it? They do the dirty on you and then they act like it’s you that’s the shithead. They hold their noses and look pained. Like they can smell something truly rotten, something very nasty indeed. They act like it’s you that’s crapped on the floor. We all know that one, I think. Everyone knows that one. Doing the dirty on someone and then turning it around on them as if it was them that did it. Getting very angry. Lying your head off shamelessly and then instantaneously believing your own lies. Believing them every time. We all know that one for sure. By God we do, is there anything else we human beings do these days apart from falling over our own feet in our absurd hurry to buy into our own heinous bullshit. To buy into our own filthy lies.

Making the correct life choices, excited by all the high-end products. Living your best whatever it is. Whatever the hell you want to call it. Making it until you make it. Faking it for all your worth. Making memories that aren’t really true. Faking your own faking. That’s what it comes down to, wouldn’t you agree? Wouldn’t you say? Faking your own goddamn stupid faking as if this were ever going to solve anything! As if this were the smart move, as if this were the ‘strategy of choice’. Making up stupid shit because you don’t know what else to do, and then buying into it as soon as the words come out of your mouth…

We’ve all been there, of course. No point in trying to make out that you’re somehow the exception. Everyone’s the exception, right? Everyone’s the fucking exception. You bet. For sure they do. Everyone’s whiter than white. Everyone’s a hero, everyone’s a good guy. It’s always the other guy, right? For sure it is, for sure it is. Don’t worry about it, buddy. We know it’s not you. We all know it’s not you so don’t worry.
