Wracked by Guilt and Self-Loathing

‘How to be a better cog in the machine’, I wrote. I wrote it on the very first page of my brand-new notebook, and then I underlined it. Twice. This was to be an especially important piece of writing I realised – perhaps more important than anything I had ever written up to this point. Very important indeed, in other words. Super-important. The cogs and flywheels in my brain were whirring like mad because of the importance. Because of the importance of the task at hand. Because of the importance of the important things, you see. All those interlocking cogs spinning off each other, spinning like crazy, spinning like mad. Because of the important thing. If the thing were any more important than it already is or was then there would be a big problem, a crisis point, a runaway self-replicating glitch, a fundamental irreversible catastrophe with regard to the nature of Reality itself but we won’t go into that here. By God we won’t…

Other people’s minds are so very unfair – have you ever noticed that? Fundamentally unfair, in fact. Unfair like you wouldn’t believe. Or maybe like you would believe. I don’t know. You might have experienced what I’m talking about yourself – the chances are that you have, after all, whether you want to admit it or not. Once you get trapped in another person’s mind then you’re finished – you can’t win. They’ll hunt you down, they’ll corner you, and then they’ll release the dogs on you. They’ll say stuff about you that isn’t true and then the next thing is that you’ll get to believing it yourself because the pressure’s too great. Because they’re controlling all the parameters. I know you know what I’m talking about but it’s just not the done thing to talk about it. Sometimes people like to say that ‘we are all thoughts in the mind of God’. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard people say this but the point I’m making here is that it could be more true than we realise – it could be more true and also more sinister at one and the same time. A lot more true, and a lot more sinister into the bargain.

If this statement is true then this means that we’re all trapped in The Mind of God and you know the implications to that. I don’t need to tell you. You’ve read all the Gnostic gospels the same as I have. You’re familiar with the texts. You’re no fool. Why – you’re probably shuddering in your shoes at this very moment, and I wouldn’t blame you if you were. I wouldn’t blame you at all. For sure I wouldn’t. What chance would any of us poor deluded buggers have in this case? What would you say our chances are? Non-existent, right? And yet we carry on with the wretched charade, acting like we’re all just so great. We talk shyte the whole time – we talk the most unbearable shyte on a constant basis and we fixate on utter garbage every single minute of the day. We never take a break. We’re as superficial as it is possible to be, and on top of everything else we’re full of this sense of our own supreme self-importance. We’re the pathetic grovelling slaves of the Abuser Mind you see, and no one wants to know…
