The degradation of reality, the degradation of reality – is there never any relief from that? Is there never a break from it? That’s what we all want to know. It’s like some sort of competitive sport, isn’t it – let’s see who can degrade reality the most today.
‘I’m hoping for my dreams to come true’, I say proudly. ‘I’m aiming high, I’m aiming for the best, and why shouldn’t I?’ It’s all in the privacy of my own imagination after all. ‘Why shouldn’t I pin my hopes on the glorious fulfilment of my dreams?’ I ask defiantly, standing tall. At least we may dream, at least we may dream…
What are dreams, if not exercises in the further degradation of reality? Everything must be turned into a dream, must it not? Life’s not fit for purpose otherwise. Life’s not fit for purpose if we can’t turn it into a dream – it’s no good for anyone. First convert life into a dream my friend, and then perhaps you can live it. You can give it a go, at any rate. You can give it a fair go.
We are attracted to bright, pretty things, are we not? Who isn’t attracted to the bright and pretty things. Grab them quickly, we say, grab them quickly before they can get away. Grab them quickly and then you can have them for your very own, and how exciting is that? That’s plenty exciting of course, always plenty exciting. It’s a buzz and no mistake.
That’s the secret of life really, isn’t it? Grab the shiny pretty things so you can have them for your very own. What more needs to be said? The wonder and magic of those pretty things. You’re reaching out your pale trembling hands towards them – you’re definitely in some surreal altered state of consciousness – but all you know is that you want to grab hold of them before anyone else does, to see how good that will feel. To see if you can have them for your very own.
They’re not real though, are they? They’re just not real and that’s the whole problem. That’s the whole problem right there. We are only dreaming the pretty things and when you go to catch them you can’t. They run away away from you every time. You rush to catch hold of them only to find that there’s nothing there. You’re clutching hold of nothing.
The dream is very different to reality when it comes down to it – in the dream we catch those shiny glittery things and they enrich our lives. They enrich our lives beyond all measure. They bring us so much joy and satisfaction. In reality, on the other hand, this simply never happens. That never ever happens.
It’s the dream that we want therefore. always the dream. Only the dream is good, only the dream brings rich joy and lasting satisfaction to our lives. Only the dream, only the dream. Bring on the dream. What good is reality if we can’t catch the shiny, pretty things? What good is anything then? Grab them before anyone else can’, my mind advises me urgently, ‘grab them quickly and never let them go…’
It’s all to do with the Law of Contraction, as I’m sure you know – we’ve all heard enough about that over the last few decades after all. Folk never get tired of yapping on and on about the Law of Contraction and that means something in itself. It’s one of the prime signs of the ongoing degradation of reality. It’s a symptom of how fast and how far we’ve fallen, a sure and certain symptom.
We’re happy about the happy things however and that’s something to hang onto. That’s something to hang onto for as long as we can. Hang on to that thought folks because you’re going to need it. The good things are all very good and the meaningful things are so very meaningful and that’s something to be grateful for. Gratitude’s a virtue so make sure to keep it up. Don’t stint with the old gratitude now because that’s very important. You’ll get nowhere without it.
You’ve nothing to say and all the time in the world to say it, isn’t that right? It’s a sad irony – one of many, in fact. One of very many. Trying to stay happy, trying to stay upbeat in the face of insurmountable odds. Dreaming the dream, as they say. It’s something to pin your hopes on and you have to pin them somewhere, don’t you? Otherwise, what will happen to them? All those hopes of yours. All of those fine and splendid hopes.
