In a Spin

I was in a spin. I spun out of bed and down the stairs and into the kitchen. Spinning, spinning, spinning. I didn’t know what to do with myself – I couldn’t stop spinning! Spin, spin, spin. Spinning was the thing. Not losing any momentum I spun out of the kitchen, through the hall and right out of the front door. Then I was spinning off down the road. Nothing could stop me! For some crazy reason the words of the Gingerbread Man rhyme came into my head and I couldn’t stop singing it: “Run, run, as fast as you can; you can’t stop me I’m the Gingerbread Man”. I could get this rhyme out of my head. I sang it and sang it and sang it. Singing it was the thing as I spun my way crazily through the estate, like a mad top. Then I realized that I was having a very dangerous hallucination and I lost my balance. I went down instantly, hitting my head on the kerb as I did so. Hard. Then everything went black…
